(More customer reviews)This hose reel began rusting within a month of placing it in use. Unfortunately knowing I had a one year warranty I did not rush to contact Amazon. The seller, Hardware sales said that I must pay to ship it back to them before they will replace it. They said it would cost about $40.00 to ship. Bottom line is this hose reel will rust very quickly. There are other negative reviews about this. I would not recommend purchasing it. I would not purchase anything from Hardware sales or World Factory Inc. either. I am also disappointed in Amazon.

I loved the design of this product and I was looking forward to having a better hose reel.....but I was very dessapointed when it arrived in the mail. It is so small, it cannot accomodate a regular US garden hose. Maybe in Italy where it was made is OK, but not by American standards. Loved the design, very dessapointed of the small size of it.

(More customer reviews)An outstanding product but missing numerous small parts. This thing is serious heavy duty and you won't find anything like it at Lowes or Home Depot. Big Balloon tires lets you push it anywhere. It will in fact store at least 300 feet of hose. I have a hundred foot pro grade on it and doesn't even dent its obvious capacity. NO PLASTIC HERE--reinforce all threaded conections with one wrap of plumber's thread tape. A little seapage on mine but no big deal.
I'm assuming the product was already assembled and then disassemble for shipment to me. The screws, nuts, washers, etc. were loose in the container which was holed during shipment. Some of these small parts probably fell out. Luckily I keep leftover parts from everything and had what I needed to complete assembly without contacting the seller.
Still five stars for obvious quality.

(More customer reviews)I have this hose reel in the 175 ft. capacity version. I use it with a 75 ft. hose and it works great. The only problem is that when the hose is completely out of the box and you start to reel it in you need to put your hand on the top to keep it from jumping. After a few cranks when there is some weight in the box, you can open the top and use the hose guide to reel the hose on evenly. I have had no leaks and it is better looking than most hose reel boxes. After trying out a few other models, I think this is the best. I would not recomend using the maximum length allowed hose for any of these plastic boxes. I think the 175 ft. box could handle a 100-125 ft of hose, but if you have a longer hose I would get this larger model.

My wife & I are avid gardeners and there is probably not a day during the gardening season that we do not use our garden hose.
I purchased a Robo winder around 5 years ago (could be 7 or 8) and we were extremely pleased with it. We left it outside all year round and only disconnected the inlet hose during our Illinois winters.
We also purchased a 75 ft unit that we have also performed the same maintenance on, which is none and also found this unit GREAT.
Finally had to replace my Robo Winder with new version RW-12581 and found this new version faster and much, much smaller and more compact then my trusty Robo Winder.
I was even able to install a small sprinkler to the discharge hose to water those neglected areas instead of dumping the discharge water down a drain.
I had looked at all of the alterative units (electric, hand windups) and this unit is simply the BEST.
I wish that everything I purchased worked as well.

I was looking for functional, relatively inconspicuous, and not downright ugly. This fits the bill perfectly! Good little hose hanger... It's almost invisible against my cedar siding... I would certainly recommend this item. Any hose hanger with a saddle will keep your hoses in much better shape that the hook type...

Ames True Temper Reeleasy Hose Reel Cart 2386275 Review

(More customer reviews)I have been looking around the local gardening and home improvement center chains trying to find a replacement for my Ames ReelEasy Hose Cart which recently cracked at the handle. I have looked at the Suncast products which are a little less expensive and carried by most of the chain stores, but they just pale in comparison when you look at their quality. The other products are flimsy and wobbly. I have had my Ames ReelEasy for over eight years and had it not been for it cracking where the handle meets the reel I would not be replacing it. It still works, but is a pain to try and wheel around from the back to the front of the house, since the handle won't stay in the upright position. This reel has spent the last eight years in horrible Chicago climate and has never leaked and has never needed a repair. I do make sure to store it in the garage in winter and make sure there is no water left in the hose and reel that would freeze and expand. Other than some slight fading from the sun and that darn crack in the handle this reel has stood the test of time. I don't know what the life expectancy of a garden reel is, but eight years to me is pretty good. That said I have opted not to purchase an inferior reel cart for twenty dollars less and chose to replace my reel with what I know will last. I will add that the Ames hose reel is a solid product and it is not flimsy like its competition. In this case you get what you pay for. So, if you're contemplating spending the extra twenty to thirty dollars I say go ahead, you will be glad you did.

Unlike other hose reels that I have owned, the Hideaway hose does not leak at all even after one year of use. I was so impressed with the first one, I ordered a second one from Amazon.com. It came completly assembled. All you have to do is connect the hose to the faucet.
I would have rated this 5 stars except for the following: a) when reeling the hose in you must make sure it is evenly distributed around the hose reel, otherwise the hose can become jammed. b) durability has yet to be confirmed. There have been no problems after 1 year, but will this hideaway last 5 years?

The design itself is too narrow, and combined with the thin plastic the entire assembly wobbles furiously when you wind the hose. It frequently tips over when unwinding. I've broken the handle twice: once normally winding the hose and the other time when the unit tipped over. I got just a couple of months of use out of the original and the replacement unit. I recommend you save yourself the disappointment buy something more substantial.

There's nothing to seal the water connection where it goes into the reel, so more water leaks out of the thing than goes through the hose. It's a piece of junk. Good idea, though. (More customer reviews)The instructions are pretty much worthless, so it took longer than I expected to assemble it because I didn't do it in the right sequence, and had to disassemble then reassemble. but other than that it's fantastic! Plastic hose reels appear bulky because all the parts are made so thick; this metal one with it's thin diameter tubing is almost invisible. Even so, it's sturdy and not rickety. And the reel is mounted up higher, so you don't have to bend over as much when winding. Plastic ones are not sturdy at all, they tend to "walk" or wobble when you try to drag them behind you because of all the flexing (I used to have to pick up & carry mine). The one I replaced was the cheapest plastic one on sale at Ha**** Fr**** and even it was more expensive than this metal one. Look around at all the metal hose reels on Amazon, to get anything like this of a different brand starts at $90 and goes up from there!! My only criticism is that the manufacturer just throws the parts into the box with no styrofoam, so my reel was slightly bent and the handles had poked holes through side of the box. Also, all the threaded fittings are plastic, and although everything was leak-free on the first try, I would have preferred those parts to be metal for longevity. Oh, and the lead-in hose is TINY, only about 2 feet long, so unless you plan to keep it butted right up against the house under the faucet you'll need to buy a longer one.
