I have tried a NUMBER of hoses (from Home Dept/Lowes) and most of them were plastic pieces of JUNK! (even the supposed "Never Kink" brands).
But I saw a few reviews for this brand online (here, Consumer Reports, etc.) and I thought I'd give it a shot. Either one of the Gilmour hoses (the Flexogen and/or the Everlasting) were all rated high, mainly due to the "8-Ply" construction and structure of the hose.
This hose DOES NOT KINK! (EVER!)
I know there are a number of people who posted that their hoses kink but, here is the SECRET - if your water pressure is strong/high then the hose DOES NOT KINK - for those of you with "weak" water pressure then I am sure you may be susceptible to kinking (but that is NOT the hoses fault).
But the water [high] pressure, in my experiences, 99% of the time, will AUTOMATICALLY smooth out ANY kinks that are about to happen (you can, obviously, FORCE it to kink, by hand, but this is just plain Stupid!)
My other favorite hose (a black rubber hose from Sears is also awesome). My rubber hose is as tough as nails but it does kink sometimes. But when it does it is an easy matter of "whipping" the hose to un-kink it. Rapid Reels are good too, but expensive Rapid Reel 5/8"ID x 100' All-rubber Premium Grade Garden Hose. The difference between the rubber and the Flexogen/Everlasting is that the latter is a bit lighter (rubber is HEAVY). Both also fit well into my Suncast PW100 Powerwind (an AWESOME automatic reel) - the price is good here, but also at [...] as well. And then if you get a Claber Garden Hose Nozzle, it is like "Space Invaders" (but with water). Claber Metal-Jet Pistol Garden Hose Nozzle #9567
It has a "Quick Connect" system that will Never again have you twisting/screwing on your hose to the facet's [Check into it].
But overall, the Flexogen/Everlasting (both the same I am told) are definitely the TOP in quality and caliber - it is like the Lexus of water hoses! (sorry, I love Lexus, Benz guys).
It doesn't hurt that they both are covered by a LIFETIME warranty (Awesome). You can get the Everlasting here as well. Everlasting Garden Hose by Gilmour - 100' long, 5/8" ID, or directly at Rittenhouse. But is was much...cheaper to get it (Flexogen/Everlasting) here at Amazon since they gave FREE shipping (you CAN'T beat that!!! :-)
Anyway, I can vouch and guarantee, by my own extensive experiences, testing and research - that you CANNOT go wrong with this hose - Enjoy!
